“OnePlus 12: Putting the Plus in Tantalus!”
Paint Job for the new Flagship
Those tech gurus at OnePlus decided there needed to be something new to talk about this week; so, they went ahead and dropped the official renders of their latest and greatest – the OnePlus 12. Laying low (for now) in three not-so-ordinary shades – vanilla white, licorice black, and martian green, the smartphone is set to have its red carpet moment on December 5th in China, before it globally invades our pockets.
A Deja Vu Design
With a design that could give you major déjà vu, the OnePlus 12 might make you question your sense of time and reality. The design looks uncannily similar to its older sibling, the OnePlus 11, but don’t be fooled! The Alert Slider – a feature so loved, it could run for the presidency – has been sneakily relocated from right to left. Because why not keep users on their toes, right?
Relocation for Innovation
But let’s not jump to conclusions and call this move of the Alert Slider a mere game of musical chairs. According to OnePlus, they’ve made room for a shiny new integrated antenna that’s aimed at amplifying signal performance and chopping down latency for gaming addicts. Looks like they’ve been doing their internal testing, so fingers crossed they’re not just blowing smoke!
Our Hot Take:
So, the OnePlus 12 seems to be less of a revolution and more of a relocation mission. The device’s big wow factor seems to be shifted to the “left side” the Alert Slider is sitting on. Feels like OnePlus is singing to Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable”: “To the left, to the left. Everything you own in the box to the left.” All in all, it seems another tech tomato in the salad of smartphones; let’s see if it’s ripe enough to stand out.
