When Software Giants Date: Adobe Still Wooing Figma Amid Antitrust Glances

A $20-Billion Game of Hearts… And Regulators

Sure, we’ve all heard of “Cinderella” and “Beauty and the Beast,” but what about the epic love story between Adobe and Figma? Yes, you read that right! Adobe, the software equivalent of our muscular, enticing Prince Charming is trying to court the Belle of the tech world, Figma. Yet they’re dodging the chaperoning eyes of antitrust regulators over a whopping $20-billion proposed union.

To Infinity and… Adobe?

Whilst this courtship is under review, both companies (or should we say love birds?) are finding some creative and productive ways to be together. The voyeuristic peep that we got from an exclusive video shows Adobe’s AI engine (Firefly, not Serenity) wanting to get cosy in Figma’s interface. That’s not all, we also saw Figma’s app prototype poking its code into After Effects – just like playing footsie under the table. Plus, sharing common taste in color palettes and fonts is their way of sharing love letters. Adorable!

Being Me but within We

In any relationship, maintaining individuality is key. This wisdom hasn’t been lost on our smitten pair. Figma’s stellar independent aura brought them into Adobe’s sight in the first place. If they metaphorically tie the knot, it’s important for them to keep their customers’ demographics distinct and continue the successful streak they’ve been enjoying. Now that sounds like a healthy relationship, right?

Hot Take!

It’s romantic, it’s thrilling, and it might have regulators clutching their pearls. We’re watching a real-life coming of age romantic drama in the tech world. If I were to guess the end, it would comprise of Figma standing in the rain declaring, “I make sense when I’m with you, Adobe… Let’s push our pixels together!” Adobe, of course, wipes away a single, digital tear and whispers, “Mesh my polygons, Figma…” Tech love and regulatory interference – certainly more entertaining than your average rom-com!
